The Madras Pinjrapole

(The Madras Pinjrapole)

(The Madras Pinjrapole)

The Madras Pinjrapole at Otteri shelters cows.  Cows at Pinjrapole are brought in by good hearted people who cannot see harm being done to these mute animals. But sympathy alone is not enough. Cows that are sick or neglected due to some reason, also have a right to live in dignity. Such heart rendering concern is shown by our beloved and Pujya Dada Ratanchandji, founder of the Sufi Dar Trust.  With his guidance, blessings and physical involvement to this noble cause, some devotees too have been active for this purpose.

(Rescued cows at the Pinjrapole)

Cows that are sold to slaughterhouses are bought by some of the devotees of the Sufidar Trust and brought to Pinjrapole. Dry cows who are not in any condition to yield milk, stray cows and sick cows too are brought to this shelter. Surprisingly, even pregnant cows are neglected by their owners as they do not yield milk until they deliver. And sometimes they too are sold to slaughterhouses. Whenever such cases come to the notice of our Puj Dadaji through devotees or friends, the cows are saved from being slaughtered by buying them and bringing them to the Pinjrapole, where they can lead a peaceful life.

A devotee of SufiDar Trust, Shri Rajesh R. Raheja, appointed by Puj Dadaji, and a few workers of the Pinjrapole bathe these cows everyday. Everyday the cows are fed green grass, fodder, which consists of wheat bran husk, bengal gram husk, moong dal husk and orid dust. Occasionally they are also fed with jaggery, bananas and extract of gingelly oil which is very nutritious. The veterinarian at Pinjrapole attends to sick cows immediately and administers the medication.

According to the information by Pinjrapole, there are nearly 1,500 cows, of which the devotees of the SufiDar Trust have adopted many. The cows are taken care of on a daily basis. Sheds have been provided to house the cows in and all their day to day needs like water, food and medical care are provided to all of them.

Cows that were brought in sick have been treated and are hale and hearty now. Those cows that were saved from the slaughterhouses and those that were not yielding milk are now in good health and quite a few of them even yield milk regularly.

The noble services of the SufiDar Trust do not end here. Apart from taking care of the cows at Pinjrapole and saving the cows from slaughterhouses, the devotees under Puj Dadaji's guidance have started another project. Workers at Pinjrapole are given a meal twice a month. A monthly donation is given to Pinjrapole apart from the above rendered services. Clothes are also distributed to all the male and female workers and staff on occasions like Diwali and Pongal. Apart from this there are hundreds of pigeons which are also fed jowar everyday.
